Website Launched PDF Print E-mail

It’s no secret that not-for-profits are facing some pretty serious challenges in this tough economy. Catholic Charities AIDS Services has launched a new website that not only provides information about the agency, area resources and HIV/AIDS – it also offers “charitable” shopping.

The site, www.ccaidsalbany.org, has a shopping portal where you can support Catholic Charities AIDS Services while shopping at many popular online stores such as Amazon, buy.com, Barnes & Noble, Hotels.com, PetSmart and Walmart.com, among others. More than 40 vendors will pay AIDS Services an average of three to four percent of each online sale if a customer enters via AIDS Services’ portal.
“We understand that times are tough right now and wanted to offer an easy solution for people to still feel like they are helping their community. Our new website and shopping portal allows people to buy holiday gifts from popular online stores for items such as clothing, books and toys. Basically the only thing that’s different is that they enter these stores through our website,” said Angela Keller, Executive Director.
All money raised from the shopping portal and any other fundraising efforts goes to support the nearly 700 people served by the agency annually. Donations ensure that Catholic Charities AIDS Services can provide emergency financial assistance, personal care and basic needs items, transportation, case management and syringe access prevention services to those with and at risk of HIV/AIDS in an 11-county area.
Future plans include a specials portal, which will allow AIDS Services supporters to take advantage of specials and offers that that merchants are offering.
