Project Safe Point Coordinator

Seeking an energetic, dynamic individual to expand the Capital Region’s only Syringe Exchange and Access Program. The Project Safe Point Coordinator will provide direct service and oversight for the project’s harm reduction services including syringe exchange, expanded syringe access, harm reduction counseling, recovery readiness, and Opioid overdose prevention.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of experience delivering harm reduction services and/or working with target population
  • At least one year of supervisory experience
  • Program coordination or development experience a plus.
  • Excellent communicator and organized, independent worker
  • Experience with staff training and development and community education
  • Familiarity with and sensitivity to specialized needs of people with HIV, of people with substance abuse and mental health issues, of people of color, of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds within client and staff populations.
  • Background in/sensitivity to the needs of active substance users.
  • Ability to operate within framework of Harm Reduction philosophy and practice.
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and ability to support staff with appropriate information.
  • Familiarity with and ability to access community resources and services.
  • Ability to provide and instruct others in providing strengths-based, individual-centered, proactive harm reduction services.
  • Ability to provide an atmosphere of trust, mutual respect and caring.
  • Must have a personal cell phone, valid driver’s license, proof of current car insurance and registration and access to a working vehicle.
