|Linguistic Program Information for Service Providers|
Catholic Charities AIDS Services Linguistics Services Program provides interpretation services for medical appointments where lack of English proficiency has created a barrier for individuals with HIV/AIDS to access medical care and follow treatment protocols. This page provides information for community services HIV/AIDS providers on how to utilize these services for you clients.
Interpretation services will be provided through Catholic Charities AIDS Services staff and staff of the Multicultural Association of Medical Interpreters, Inc. (MAMI, Inc.). All staff providing language interpretation services have been extensively trained by MAMI, the largest legal and medical interpreting organization in Upstate New York. Additionally, sign language and other interpretation support for the visually and hearing impaired will be provided by a vendor.
These services are available for residents of, or for appointments scheduled in Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Fulton and Montgomery Counties.
In the Provider Packet you will find information on the program and guidelines for registering your agency, so that your staff may request appointments on behalf of HIV-positive clients/patients, and materials for clients.
